Earlier in month we received a custom order request to personalize a version of our industrial pipe desk riser.
Desk risers are organizational pieces used to support items such as monitors, laptops, phones, tablets, or anything else you can think of. Desk risers are popular because they help make excellent use of your desk by adding a new level of functionality.
Our industrial pipe desk riser is made from 1/2″ pipe, floor flanges lined with felt (to prevent scratching). You can also make them more permanent by screwing into your wooden table top!
We then add a piece of solid pine wood measuring 7.5″ wide and 36″ wide.
This version ordered was Marine Corps themed, and the recipient is a NYPD officer. We collaborated 
with our client and talked through a few renderings. Ultimately, we decided on using 8″ tall pipe legs to offer adequate storage space for standing pens, laptop, and more. We painted the board in dark blue, and added an NCO Blood Stripe down the center. These are iconic  Marine Corps colors.
We then painted the board’s edge in a lighter shade of blue, to signify the Blue Lives Matter in support of our responsible law enforcement officials.
In addition to the Marine Corps colors, we added a few more military artifacts. We countersunk two challenge coins on either side of the board, and affixed two Dress Blues rank insignias to the top. We then pinned chevrons from Private First Class, Lance Corporal, to Corporal to the front edge. The last piece of Marine Corps personalization was a ribbon centered on the edge.
Lastly, we added two heavy duty carrying handles to help with potential cable management (to tuck monitor cables neatly out of the way) and for easier transport.
