We jumped at the opportunity to make this wonderful gift for an awesome family friend!
The lawn sign is designed to be mounted on stakes, as well as on a wall or door.
Our first step is to determine the size required and/or desired.
Then we cut the boards to size. We chose weather treated pine, measuring approximately 4″ longer than anticipated in each side.
We use a signmaker template like the Rockler Interlock State Park Font Sign Kit. We use the 2-1/4″ version.
After routing the letters on both sides, we cut the piece to the exact dimensions requested. Thismeans we have to trim the length and/or width. We’ve added 45-degree miters at the edge of this version.
Then we sand and stain the piece. We find that adding a two tone helps the words stick out a lot better.
Thats pretty much it!
If you don’t have access to a router, you may purchase a board at your local hardware/lumberyard, and paint the letters instead.
